We've changed our name!
When we first sat down to figure out what this company was going to be, the name that came up was The Inventor Project. It felt right. It captured exactly what we wanted to do: give young people the chance to make things, break things, and figure out how stuff works.
Then, as these things go, the name shifted. We landed on Printellect Labs. It was catchy, it sounded techy, and it nodded to our roots in 3D printing. For a while, it worked.
But over time, something started to bug us. Every conversation we had with a new school or event organiser started with the same misunderstanding. People heard "Printellect" and assumed we were a 3D printing company. And yes, 3D printing is a big part of what we do. We love it. We bring printers on-site, we teach kids to design in CAD, and every participant walks away with something they made themselves.
But that was never the whole picture.
Walk into one of our workshops and you'll find kids wiring up Arduino circuits, racing wind-up cars they've just built, cracking codes with cipher wheels, or testing paper boat designs to see whose sinks last. 3D printing is one tool in the box. The real point has always been the experience: getting hands-on with STEM, learning by doing, and walking away thinking "I made that."
The name Printellect didn't tell that story. It put 3D printing in the spotlight when the spotlight should have been on the inventor.
So we've gone back to the name we should have stuck with from the beginning. The Inventor Project.
It's not a pivot. It's not a rebrand for the sake of a rebrand. The team is the same. The workshops are the same. The mission is the same. We've just finally got a name that matches what we actually do.
Our tagline is simple: Invent Something.
That's the whole philosophy in two words. We don't run lectures. We don't do death-by-PowerPoint. We set up a space, bring the kit, and let young people get stuck in. Whether that's designing a keyring in Tinkercad, building a circuit that lights up, or engineering a marble run that actually works, the goal is always the same: make something real, learn something new, and have a good time doing it.
If you've worked with us before, nothing changes on your end. Same company, same team, same workshops. We're still turning up with printers, filament, Arduinos, and more activities than we can fit into a single session. You'll just see a different name on the emails.
If you're hearing about us for the first time, welcome. We run hands-on STEM workshops for schools, Scout jamborees, holiday camps, and youth events. We bring everything we need. You just need a power supply and a bit of space.
We've got a packed calendar ahead and a growing list of activities in the pipeline. The name change gives us room to keep building without being boxed in. 3D printing will always be part of what we offer, but now there's space for everything else too.
